Autumn at Hatachi Seaside Park Ibaraki

Autumn is here again  and this year I have decided to start my autumn leaves coverage not on big red and yellow trees but on a tiny red shrub known as Kochia.

You can find plenty of these red shrubs at the Hitachi Seaside Park (ひたち海浜公園) in Ibaraki prefecture. To get there from Tokyo you must take the Hitachi Super train from Ueno and get off at Katsuta station. Then from Katsuta station you can either take the bus or the taxi to the park. The train and the bus take about 2 hours altogether so it is really not that far from Tokyo.

This park is gigantic and always filled with beautiful flowers and plants throughout the year but at the end of September to around the mid of October, you can witness hills filled with red Kochia shrubs.
