Thai Mother’s Day 2013

12th of August is Mother’s Day in Thailand for it is the Queen’s birthday. The Thai people believe that Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand is the mother of the nation. Therefore mother’s day in Thailand is on the same day as the birthday of the Her Majesty the Queen. For Mother’s day I want to dedicate my blog to my mother, Mrs. Piyapat Suban na Ayudhya.

I might be a bit biased but my mother is probably the best mother in the world. We might not agree on a lot of things but there is one particular thing about her that makes her the best and that is her philosophy on education. My mother has always believed that education in life is always beyond the classroom walls. There is always knowledge in the books and there is also knowledge on the street. Therefore when I was little she always took me out of school and flew me with her to exotic places around the world even when she had to go on a business trip. In this way, I got to learn about the world first hand.

I am very fortunate in life to see so many places from a very young age because of her and this has made me who I am today. I am very proud of my international background and my global expertise and that is all because my mother.

Even now that we are older, my mother has not stopped this belief. She still travels around the world and visits me frequently in Tokyo. We still go on a lot of trips together. This was out latest picture during the cherry blossom of Spring 2013 at Kudanshita in Tokyo.
