Taisho Pond – Kamikochi Nature Reserve

Taisho Pond is a place to visit when you are at Kamikochi Nature Reserve. Situated at the bottom of the reserve, the color of the pond has this mystical purplish blueish glow because of the saturation of sediments that flow down from the mountains. There is also a volcano next to the pond. This volcano exploded a long time ago and the sediment from that explosion also has an effect on the colour of the water.

From the pond you can also look toward the mountain and the glacier that defined the scenery of Kamikochi.
