Lunch at Balthazar

When I arrived in New York, I was so hungry and the very first place I went to was Balthazar in Soho. It was late in the afternoon but the line was still very long. We had to wait for about 30 minutes. Luckily, I alleviated my hunger level by shopping around Soho.

I really love the ambiance. The mirror walls with leather furnitures provide a sense of a luxury long gone away. The restaurant is always busy filled with fashionistas to tourists and it really makes you feel that you are in the big and diverse city.

My friend ate the chicken liver and foie gras mousse with grilled country bread.

I had the Balthazar salad. This was perfect after a tiring journey on the plane. The dressing and the fresh vegetables definitely freshened me up.

For the main course, I had the duck confit. I have eaten many duck confits around the world but I really love the sauce at Balthazar. I enjoyed the sauce but I felt that the skin could be more well cooked because it was not as crispy and a duck confit should be.
