The day couldn’t have been for spectacular to go visit Mt. Fuji and the surrounding Autumn leaves for a day.
It takes about 2 hours from Shinjuku station to Lake Kawaguchi. Lake Kawaguchi is one of the main five lakes surrounding Mt. Fuji. You can take a direct train from Shunjuku to Otsuki and then change to go Lake Kawaguchi station. However my excellent navigation skill has caused me to take an extra hour to get there by getting on the wrong train…
The area is rich with Japanese maple trees and right now the autumn leaf is at its peak. There was suppose to be an autumn leaves festival but somehow we did not get to go because the online information misdirected us to a different bus stop. Even without the festival, the area itself is just breathless and it is not too far away from Tokyo, if you need some fresh air just hop on the train to Mt. Fuji from Tokyo.
Watching the sunset at Mt. Fuji. No wonder it is a national icon.
